About Us
The 2009/2010 season will be the Riptides' 6th season as an All-star program and we look forward to continued growth and success. In our first five seasons the Riptides have captured National, State and Northeast Championship Titles. The Riptide program is open to girls and boys from ages 4 - 18. No experience is necessary. At Cheer Gym we believe family comes first our competitive teams practice and competition schedule reflect that belief. Our competitive teams practice two nights a week and compete 8-10 times a year. We do our best to respect your family time and in return we ask that you take your participation on a competitive team seriously.
Team Placement
Our philosophy at Cheer Gym is that all children deserve an opportunity to be part of a team. All Athletes will be evaluated during try-outs. Coaches will be looking for work ethic and desire along with skill levels in stunts, jumps and tumbling. Athletes will be assigned to teams during May. All athletes will receive a team assignment packages with thier team placement, practice schedule and team policies.
2009/2010 Competition Season
Riptide All-Star's competition season runs from May to April. During the summer Riptides are required to attend, practice, tumbling and summer camp. Riptides are excused from practice for family vacations during the summer only. From September to April the Riptides practice 2-3 nights a week and attend approximately 9 competitions from December to April. In keeping with our family friendly policy, Riptides do not practice or compete during Christmas break or Easter break.
Riptides Coaching Staff
At Cheer Gym we believe that building self-esteem and confidence is our most important job. This belief is reflected in our coaching philosphy. All Riptide coaches focus on positive motivation and reinforcment.
Riptides Training Facility
Cheer Gym's 5,500 square foot facility is equipped with a 9-panel spring floor, a 30' Tumble trac, and a professional size trampoline with an overhead spotting rig. The gym is air-conditioned and has all the equipment necessary for cheerleaders to train in a safe and fun environment.
Team Expenses and Fund Raising Opportunities
Riptide Cheerleaders are required to pay for their own uniforms, competition fees, coaches fees and travel fees. The Cheer Gym Parent Foundation offers a variety of fundraising programs to help offset these cost.
